Review: Miss Jessie's Leave- In Condish

 

A couple of months back I discovered Miss Jessie's  hair care and last week, I was fortunate enough to snag some products AND meet the founders of the brand themselves! 

 

Miss Jessie's is an amazing brand designed to deliver specialized treatment and products to cater to all you curly haired dolls out there.  Known for its expertise in styling curly, kinky, and wavy hair of all types and textures, Miss Jessie's Salon is the go-to place for all curly haired woes. 

 

The event was celebrating launch of the brand's newest addition: Miss Jessie's Leave-In Condish and offered a chance to ask the experts all about it!

The Leave- In Condish is a styling prep for achieving soft, moisturized, and tangle- free curls.  I liked using this, particularly because its formula was relatively light, but still managed to weigh down my frizz.  My hair is super thick with tight curls so I expected to need something extra but this proved to be enough.  I applied it to my hair while damp, then flat ironed it the next morning after letting it dry naturally. 

The next day my hair felt softer and when I started to flat iron it, the process was both easier and faster.  It made my hair smooth with a sleek finish and it smelled shower fresh!  The scent is light but very clean.  I would say that even if your hair is very thick, you don't need much to get the job done.  During my first application I used the suggested amount the size of a quarter and found I could get away with less.  Its also great for on the go use when you feel like rockin those curls au natural!

 

It detangles quickly so after application you can simply brush through and proceed to whip those locks into shape!  One thing to note is that this WILL add volume.  So if you're looking to add a little bounce and hydrate your mane, this is exactly what you need.  Since this doesn't provide any hold you will have to follow with either some mouse or hairspray for control, but it definitely helps enhance curls natural shape.  Overall, its a great tool that is totally in season.  Now that the cold weather is just about here, many of us (myself included) will be working over time with the flat irons and hair dryers, and this will help to protect and repair hair from all that heat about to hit it.

This was gifted to me During the GBK Celebrity Style Lounge during NYFW and I just love this one!  The design was a collaboration between Patricia Field and Rive and it produced an energetic, vibrantly colored urban print in honor of New York City. 

 

 

 

Even though it's glass, it didn't weigh too heavy when I carried it around and its quite easy to clean.  The rubber stopper on the bottom helped to absorb any shock and kept it from sliding around on my desk.  The mouthpiece unscrews and has a flip top that opens and closes for drinking.  Its an innovative twist on the generic, boring water bottles on the market today.

These pens are especially great for those lefties out there.  Many left handers experience those nasty ink smudges on their hand while trying to write but these are pretty good for no smudges.  The ink stays put on the page :)  Many of them also come with erasers and my personal favorite part of them is that they don't shed!  Eraser hairs always get so annoying but these manage to make both mistakes and the lose eraser bits disappear.

Review: LASHEM Brow Tint & Lift with Lash Enhancing Serum

When it comes to my eyebrows I always have the same complaint: They're incredibly light.  I'm always trying new pencils and shadows to give them definition and make them standout, but I usually end up either constantly reapplying or gross smudge marks. And this is all if I'm even lucky enough to find a color that matches.  Since my hair is naturally red and my brows are naturally blond, it's always tricky finding a shade that will satisfy me.  

I had the chance to try LASHEM Colour Strokes Brow Tint and Lift with Lash Enhancing Serum and its become my favorite brow enhancer ever, hands down.  I've never had much luck with pencils and shadows and this has proved the perfect solution.  Its packaged in a metal tube and contains an application wand with soft bristles- kind of like a mascara for your brows.  

I love this because of its application process.  Since the color is already on the bristles, applying the color directly to the hairs while guiding them into place made it is so much easier to put the color exactly where I wanted.  Rather then using a brow brush first, then going back over it with a pencil or shadow to apply the color.  On me it just ends up looking dull or sloppy.  This is the first tool that has actually allowed me to effortlessly achieve the exact brow definition that I wanted.

The serum is super lightweight and contains a conditioning gel that kept my brows in place.  I examined them closely at the end of each day and was impressed to see the hairs still neatly lying in the upward direction I brushed them.  There was no smudging or fading, and I'm happy to say the blond color matched pretty darn well.  It darkened them just enough to make them stand out but still looked incredibly natural- which is the point.  It is waterproof but it came off easily with just a little makeup remover.               

It also helps to nourish and thicken brows.  Coincidentally I had a not so good experience a while back when going for my usual eye brow threading appointment, where the girl took off way too much on the corner of my left brow.  The aesthetician I see now admitted it will take a long time for the hair to grow back.  The Brow Tint & Lift uses algae extract to promote fuller brows, and while it may be slight, I've noticed a small regrowth in the area.  Over the past month, I feel like this has been a great tool to help my sad little brow get back into shape.

Overall I sincerely recommend this to anyone looking for better brow definition and want to intensify their look.  Even if you are currently content with your brow pencils and shadow fill ins, I still suggest trying this.  You won't believe the difference.  I for one am DONE with the pencils etc.  It is available in black, brown and blond and you can shop them here .
