Dior's Dressy Nude Collection

When I receieved this month's issue of Harper's Bazaar I was ecstatic to see the personal invitation to Dior's "Discover the Nude That Fits Your Mood" at Macy's to try Dior's latest Dressy Nude Collection. All I had to do was call to set up an appointment, so needless to say I all but tripped over my own feet rushing to the phone.

Natalie Portman, the ambassadress of DiorSkin Nude and Rouge Dior Nude

The Nude line is quite stunning and ultra chic.  It includes four different moods (palettes); Sensuous, Feminie, Elegant and Divine.  After browsing the shades, I fell in love with the playful, girly pinks of the Femine mood.  My consultant Linda was super friendly and chatted with me while she transformed my blah morning look into a sophisticated Dressy Nude.

Dior's Dressy Nude collection helps you feel comfortable in your own skin and enhance your natural beauty. It creates a look that appears stunning yet looks effortlessly put together. I could not have been more pleased with the products and the look she achieved. My eyes are smokey but my lids are so soft and shimmery. I loved the overall look and luxe texture of this palette. I left feeling ultra chic and ready for a night out, but still felt like myself.

Eyes:
  • 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow in Rose Porcelaine (#834) $59.00
  • Diorshow Mascara in Black $25.00
  • Dior Brow Styler Universal Shade (yes universal, you read correctly, and yes it looked amazing!) $29.00

My Complexion
  • Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen $37.00
  • Rosy Glow Blush $44.00
Lips:
  • Rouge Dior Lipstick (#683): $32.00
  • Followed by Dior Addict Ultra- Gloss (#786): $28.00

Preview: Elle Collection Face Primer

Have you been on the hunt for some of this fall's hottest items?  Of course you have!  No girl wants to fall behind on the beauty scene, which is why you may want to try the Elle Collection's latest face primer.  I have yet to try it myself, but it has already shot to the top of my wish list for this season!

It is a lightweight, silky primer that instantly preps skin for flawless makeup application and helps brighten your overall complexion.  The oil-free lotion is coupled with skin treatments and “optical effects” – light reflecting particles and soft vision powders – to help instantly smooth and even out skin tone and redness, creating the perfect base for makeup application.

If you've followed me in the past, I have no doubt that you have endured my endless swooning over the Elle collection.  (I'm hopelessly addicted to their nail polishes).  I can't wait to see what Elle has coming for the holidays and no sooner will I spread the word to the rest of my Lovelies!
Have you tried any of the Elle products?  Which is your favorite?  Do you think you will try the primer?

PRO+ Therapy MD

Émergence Cell Rejuvenation Complex

PRO+Therapy MD introduces it's newest addition to their rapidly growing line of skincare products; Émergence Cell Rejuvenation Complex.  This innovative ani- aging serum contains ingredients like Phyto Cell Tech to support cellular turnover, and Vitasource to promote youthful acting cells that support collagen synthesis.  Using the Prosome Delivery System it provides 41% more Kinetin and 100% more Zeatin than other formulas on shelves today.  These elements help to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, improve skin's ability to maintain moisture (a challenge I often face with my own skin) and slow noticeable signs of aging.

I began with applying one pump to my face and an additional one on my neck.  It had a watery consistency that spread easily and dried quickly.  Once fully absorbed, it left my skin feeling cool and soothed.  It was gentle and lightweight, and I liked that it is meant for all over application and not just around the eyes.  I followed it's application with a moisturizer, and have since noticed a difference.  It's effectiveness has definitely has helped my skin retain moisture and stay softer longer.  As a high quality product, the 1.0 fl oz bottle is meant to last up to 90 days and is fragrance free.  I'd reccommend it as a solid investment for women looking to rejuvenate and brighten their skin.

e.l.f. Professional Foundation Brush

Hi Lovelies, I wanted to do an update on one of my recent purchases from my local Deal$ store; e.l.f. Professional Foundation Brush  that I bought for $1.00.  I have not tried too many elf products, but I think this brush is pretty decent.  I'm not too used to applying my foundation with a brush (even though I've been told that way is better because it helps with circulation) I have just always used my fingers.

The brush is about 1 inch long with rounded bristles, and is very lightweight.  I used it to apply my Benefit's Hello Flawless foundation and was pretty impressed with the results.  It helped blend the foundation for even, clean coverage without leaving and any streaks or blotchiness.  The bristles felt super soft and gentle on my sensitive skin, and didn't cause any irritation or discomfort.

My only concern was it's wooden handle.  I'm guessing after time and too much water contact (when washing it) it may cause the handle to losen in it's metal head.  But so far I've washed it several times and haven't experienced any problems, OR any shedding of bristles, so we'll see.  Being that it was just $1.00 I can't complain and still think it is a fair buy.

L'Oreal Paris Project Runway LTD Edition Collection

Voluminous Mascara

In keeping with my L'Oreal inspired addiction I realized my mascara stash was in dire need of replenishment.  So I headed out to CVS and picked up one of my all time favs; L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black.  I wanted to share this because this particular purchase turned out to be part of L'Oreal Paris's Project Runway Limited Edition Collection which is SO worth talking about!

The mascara is as fabulous as ever with it's ability to stay clump free, lengthen lashes and volumize them to the max.  Carbon Black is my absolute must have colour every time I see it on the shelf.  It's intensity defines your lashes and commands attention whether you're wearing shadow and liner, or just the mascara by itself.  While the only difference is it's ode to Project Runway packaging, the limited edition "Colors Take Flight" collection actually includes a fun selection of shadows, polishes and lip colours.

After some research I learned this 2012 fall collection was inspired by the vibrant colors of exotic birds and is a compilation of hot, runway worthy palettes like Sultry Raven, The Charming Cockatoo and The Audacious Amazon.  While I didn't end up purchasing any because to be honest, it was slim pickings as most of the products had been snatched up, I still wanted to share the info with my fellow Lovelies.  I am not sure how long the edition is available but should you come across them in stock, best grab them while you can!

Have you tried any of the palettes or any of the collection?  Which is your favorite so far?

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail 24 HR Collection

I had been itching to try L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail 24 HR Collection and was totally smitten when I got the chance.  I tried eye shadows Amber Rush; a shimmery, copper and Sultry Smoke; a charcol, matte, gray.  The first thing I noticed was the convenient presser under the cap, which comes in so handy should you accidentally drop the shadow (let's be honest we've all done it).  You can easily press the crumbled pieces back together.

I tested the Amber Rush on my hand and quickly noticed it was highly pigmented with an ultra silky texture.  I applied it to my lids and saw it had very smooth, even coverage with a buildable intensity.  This particular shade gave my lids that glossy, wet look which lasted the entire day.  I'm a BIG fan of non creasing shadows and these shadows definitely don't crease.  The matte Sultry Smoke was perfect for that sexy, evening look.  It smudged and blended easily, but stayed in place once I finished applying.  The best element of these shadows is not only their long wearing ability but their high pigmentation. I applied just a small amount and still achieved that show stopping glam.

Top colour: Amber Rush// Bottom colour: Sultry Smoke

How do they do it?  With a patented ColorReveal technology, L'Oreal uses 4 times more binders (oils) than other powder shadows to coat the pigment, enhancing each hue and making colors pop.  With an incredible range of 18 shades like Liquid Diamond to Infinite Sky, these are must have additions to every make up lover's collection.

But of course you have to complete the look!  I also tried L'Oreal Infallible 24 HR Lacquer Liner in Dark Slate and was just as impressed as with the shadows.  The gel formula liner comes in a small jar with a soft, slightly tapered applicator brush that allows for super easy and accurate application.  I'm not the best at applying liners, but it glided on with an even, clean, professional finish.  It's gel formula also has fabulous pigmentation that left my eyes looking sleek and glossy.

In other shades Bronze, Blackest Black, Navy and Espresso, it's perfect for the ultimate diva-esq finish!

Infallible 24HR Lacquer Liner: $9.95

Giveaway! Conair's Retractable Bristle Brush

Typically I tend to avoid round brushes, mainly because they always manage to create a massive bird's nest in my unruly, curly locks.  But when asked to test Conair's Retractable Bristle Brush, the concept intrigued me so much, I couldn't say no.

This sleek looking brush is nothing short of revolutionary.  It's bristles retract by simply pushing a button, and release back with a twist of it's base.  Using it was very easy and for once, I didn' experience any tangles.  I noticed it's plastic bristles were slightly flexible and moved gently in the direction of my hair while brushing it, making it easy to comb out.  It also has a tourmaline surface which releases ions to help increase shine and reduce frizz.

The retractable bristles not only help to avoid tangles, but male cleaning MUCH easier.  (No matter how good you are about staying on top of cleaning a round brush, it is usually always a struggle).  The retractable brush get the bristles out of your way for swift, quick cleaning and did I mention it is a total space saver??  It is easy to store and doesn't take up much space in a girl's purse (or bathroom).

Retail: $14.99
Available at Conair.com

GIVEAWAY!! One lucky winner will receive a Conair Retractable Bristle Brush of their own!  Giveaway is open to all U.S. residents and runs Sunday October 21, 2012 at 12:01AM through Sunday November 4, 2012.  Good luck!! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Algenist

Triple- Action Micropolish and Peel

I recently had the honor of attending an Algenist event where I had the opportunity to test their latest product: the Triple- Action Micropolish and Peel.
This combination of mechanical microdermabrasion and chemical peel is gentle enough to use on skin up to twice a week without causing irritation.  It's unique blend of Alguronic Acid and Glycolic Acid helps to gently exfoliate skin while also reducing redness and inflammation.   It has been clinically proven to boost skin's radiance, improve tone and texture, as well as reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles within 10 days of usage

Key ingredients like it's 10% fruit enzyme complex of Pumpkin and Pomegranate work deep in the epidermis to rid it of skin dulling cells and provide anti inflammatory properties.

For application, massage it into to damp skin, leave on for 5 minutes and rinse off with warm water.  My first thoughts when trying it were A.) how delicious it smelled, and B.) how accurately the word "gentle" describes it.  While it does contain micropolishing crystals, I barely noticed them while messaging it in.  After rinsing it off, my skin felt ultra soft without any sign of irritation.  My skin is very sensitive but this peel left it feeling smooth and totally refreshed.  It's the perfect addition to your beauty regimen for this fall and winter to keep skin touchably soft and glowing.

You Wave Ultra by Conair

If you're anything like me you're probably missing those sunkissed glows and carefree curls of summer... well perk up my Lovelies because the You Wave Ultra by Conair gives you the perfect fix!  I've tried numerous irons in my day but this one really impressed me.

I placed it on the "high" setting (400 degrees) and watched as it heated up even faster then it's advertised 30 seconds (felt closer to 15!).  At first glance it's 3 barrel design looks somewhat like a crimpper, but do not be fooled!  It's tourmaline ceramic technology helps reduce frizz and static and aims to create those laid back, beachy waves.

I started sectioning off my hair and was pleased to find the iron was fairly light weight and very easy to maneuver.   I angled it in different directions to give my hair a less uniformed look and to keep it from looking too much like a crimp.  By the time I finished I was surprised to see I had the flirty, salon style 'do advertised on the front of the box.  It was super easy to recreate and because the iron got so hot, it only took about 15 minutes to complete.  (Normally I have to set aside 30+ minutes to iron my incredibly thick locks).  The waves held firmly in place and fell nicely after finger combing them through.  It isn't often I have such luck with irons but I think this one is worth every cent.

Bottom line is it successfully provides it's advertised results.  It adds texture and body to your hair and is a fabulous way to spice up any outfit. A definite reccommended addition to your collection of irons for those tousled, playful locks.

Cindy Crawford's Meaningful Beauty Skincare

If you haven't already heard about super model Cindy Crawford's new skincare line "Meaningful Beauty" I encourage you to read on.  When I was contacted to try it, I was both curious and eager to get started with the regimen that Cindy Crawford herself deems worthy enough to use on a daily basis.  The kit comes with seven products including the Skin Softening Cleanser, the Glowing Serum, the Crème de Sérum, the Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15, Lifting Eye Crème- Advanced Formula, Antioxidant Day Crème SPF 20 UVA/UVB and Glycolic Treatment Pads.

Skin Softening Cleanser:
It has a creamy texture with an ultra light scent, and can be applied to either wet or dry skin.  Personally I found it worked better on dry skin.  Since it does not lather, I felt it held better to my dry skin and could feel it working to remove the dirt and oils.  I noticed a decrease in blackheads around my nose and it left my skin feeling smooth and refreshed.  Best of all was I only needed a small amount, meaning the bottle will last a while.  I did have some difficulty when attempting to remove eye makeup and had to go back with makeup remover, but ultimately I found it to be an effective cleanser that I would definitely use again.

Crème de Sérum (Be still my heart!):
Ahh where to begin with the fabulosity of this serum?  This triple helix phenomenon contains superoxide dismutase, an antioxidant that protects skin, anti- aging peptides to minimize lines and wrinkles and hyaluronic acid for that fresh, dewy glow.  These combined elements create a preventative premature anti- aging cocktail that hydrated my skin so well I actually felt a difference if I missed an application.
It states to use once daily, but I got into the habit of using it both morning and night.  I used 3 microscopic pumps and the bottle still lasted well over a month.  It's silky texture left my skin super smooth and acted as a great primer before applying powder or other makeup.  It absorbed uber quick and didn't leave any greasy feeling behind.  I can't get enough of this serum!

Skin Brightening Décolleté and Neck Treatment SPF 15:
Using this was actually a new experience for me.  I had only recently began applying moisturizers to my neck and having a specific formula specifically designed for the neck and decollete area was unique.  It had a light texture that I was skeptical of at first, but it was much lighter then sunscreen and absorbed better.  It left my skin touchably smooth rather then greasy or oily.  I don't feel like my skin was necessarily brighter, but it did feel smoother after applications.

Antioxidant Day Crème SPF 20 UVA/UVB:
This formula I found too heavy and oily for my sensitive skin.  It felt very much like straight sunscreen and in my case, daily sunscreen applications make me break out uncontrollably.  I prefer to use cosmetics with SPF already in them to avoid the irritation.  After just a couple applications, I decided to discontinue use of it all together.

Glowing Serum:
This formula contains soy protein, marine botanicals and antioxidants and is meant to rejuvenate your skin.  It's texture went on smooth but left behind a tacky, sticky feeling.  The tackiness faded after several minutes but for days I was in a rush I had to skip it.  I found it made blending and spreading make up difficult and I didn't always have time to wait for it to dry.  It managed to leave my skin soft, but it comes in a very small 17 FL oz bottle and if not used sparingly, can run out quickly.

Lifting Eye Crème- Advanced Formula:
This formula focuses on decreasing lines and dark circles.  To be honest, I'm still in my twenties and am luckily not yet showing signs of aging around the eyes, making this cream difficult for me to test and determine it's effectiveness.

Glycolic Treatment Pads:
The pads are meant to exfoliate and revitalize skin, even help minimize pores and fine lines when used consistently. I found these to come in handy for travel or when I was rushing.  They left my skin feeling clean and refreshed and were very gentle.  Not rough or overly soapy like other exfoliating pads.  I am not sure they did much to my pores, but they did give my skin a healthy boost and that instant "pick me up" we all sometimes need.

Jing Ai's Sierra Glow Duo

At a recent BeautyPress event I came across an incredibly precious product.  JingAi's  Sierra Glow Duo is delicately packaged and is simply adorable when opened.  Aside from the brand's unique name (which means "pure love" in Mandarin Chinese) is it's special composition of both the packaging and ingredients. The line is gluten free, vegan, and certified by the leaping bunny.  All packaging is biodegradable and made in the USA. JingAi also donates 5% of proceeds to various breast cancer charities in honor of it's founder Donna Cristino's grandmother Rose.

It is such a charming compact that I fell completely in love with it.  Along it's edges are delicate swirls and pink lettering with it's Mandarin pronunciation.  Inside is a "Pure Love Grows" note for you to plant for someone close to your heart.

The compact contains a warm, rich shade of mauve with "Pure" lightly etched into it and a soft, glittery shade of pink revealing the word "Love".  Made from an organic blend of ingredients like grapes for anti-inflammatory and anti-aging purposes and combined with wild rose oil to provide multivitamins and Omega 3 for healing and soothing skin.

Suitable for both eyes and cheeks, I found I preferred mixing the colours and applying them as a blush.  The glitter is visible in the compact, but not so much on the skin. Blended, the shades create a warm, natural glow that is long lasting and very lightweight.  They're nicely pigmented so you need only to lightly sweep them on.   The Duo also includes is the line's luxury Kabuki brush which is incredibly soft and gentle on the skin, and makes blending easy.

I adore this line's passion and would definitely try more of their products.  It's an incredible brand that continuously gives back, not just for the month of October, but whenever you purchase from the line... now that's Pure Love.

Retail: $35.00 available at QVC

Bangstyle Firm Hold Spray

A must have item, no matter the season is that reliable hairspray that will never fail to tame those pesky fly aways, and make those curls hold in place for dear life!  I recently began using Bangstyle Firm Hold Spray and while it may have been slightly too mild to weigh down my outrageously thick, frizzy locks, it's likely perfect for medium to fine hair.  It has a sweet, fresh powdery scent that is free of parabans, sulfates, sodium chloride, and even offers protection against UV rays.

It comes in an 11.8 Fl oz size can and has a unique top. Rather then pushing down to release the spray, you pull back on it like a spray bottle.

It has a lightweight formula that kept my hair soft, rather then hard and crunchy.   I noticed that when I applied it over my damp hair, my hair still dried natural looking, as opposed to that (icky) wet look.  As a curly haired girl I can't over wash my hair and sometimes have to settle for just rinsing it.  That can get frustrating if the product does not rinse out easily, but this Bangstyle not only rinsed out with ease, but I was able to brush it out as well.  I used it for over a month and it never dried out my hair or left it looking dull.

I like this funky line of products with playfully, art inspired packaging, "Think of each spray as a billion tiny particles of hope.  We tried to include justice and peace but it just clogged the sprayer". (I couldn't help myself, I love it!)

Bangstyle also offers a super cool, convenient app for iPhone that lets you find everything from stylists and salons, to hair styles and even the latest industry happenings.  Check out it's info here and learn how to use it here .

Bibhu Mohapatra at NYFW with Hair by Amit Abraham for L'Oreal

Bibhu Mohapatra New York Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2013

Designer Bibhu Mohapatra drew on inspiration from the Lunar Moth and it's emergence from the cocoon for this season's 2013 Spring/ Summer collection of bold colors and wing-like patterns.

L'Oreal's  Professionnel Portfolio Artist, Amit Abraham styled the hair in a sleek way and brought imagery to the lunar moth concept.  "The style is super clean and minimal, with an intertwined, cocoon like shape that perfectly that perfectly translates my inspiration"- Bibhu Mohapatra.

Get the Look:

Abraham began with a dramatic center part that highlights fishtail braids, pulled into a low, rectangular bun.  To tie the look together, Abraham Filled in the center hair part below the bun with a lime green pencil

1.) Abraham applied L'Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil Reinforcing Milk to the roots to flatten the part
2.) Next Abraham worked L'Oreal Professionnel True Grip (available February 2013) through the hair for hold and wove the fishtail braids into a cocoon.
3.) Next, hair was spritzed with L'Oreal Professionnel Freezing Mist and L'Oreal Professionnel Perfect Shimmer to provide hold and luster.

Timo Weiland Collection NYFW Spring/ Summer 2013

Haute Hip Hop at New York Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2013

Drawing on inspiration from Keith Haring's artwork, refelctive of the 1980's street culture, designers Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein created a collection of funky, aymmetirical shapes and patterns.  To complete the look, hair was styled by L'Oreal Professionnel Portfolio Artist Joseph DiMaggio who used a series of popular 80's do's like corn rows and (of course) crimpped hair!  "The twisted long pony tail with the mock corn row French braid complimented the collection to a T" said Weiland.

Get the Look:

To create the "hip hop" pony tail that was the highlight of the show, DiMaggio applied L'Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil Reinforcing Milk and followed by smoothing it with a flat iron.
Next, he parted hair from ear to ear and put into a high ponytail.  Hair was then criss crossed at the crown like a braid, lastly it was crimped for texture.
To finish the look DiMaggio spritezed on L'Oreal Professionnel Infinium 3 for a secure hold.
