Review: butter LONDON LIPPY Shimmer Collection

Last month butter LODON launched yet another fabulous addition: The LIPPY Shimmer Collection .   The line features six brand new shades including Beaker, Tickety Boo, Swish, Punch Up, and Pip Pip which retail for $20.00 each.  Each adds the perfect finishing touch for creating that soft, natural summer glow.  PR was kind enough to send me a few samples to work with and each one was a nice compliment to every look I wore.

Wag:
A sheer, peachy pink shimmer with gold flecks

Punch Up:
A sheer strawberry shimmer with gold flecks

I enjoyed wearing them all but I think Wag and Punch Up were my favorites.  While I found each to be suitable for wearing either on their own or over a lipstick, these two were a bit richer, more pigmented colours.  I liked these because they looked almost like bronze glazes, but with flirty pink and gold shimmer that made my lips bolder and really stand out.  I loved the consistency which was ultra smooth, and they were all SUPER shiny.  These two in particular are great if you're looking for the perfect balance of gold, pink and bronze lip colour.

Beaker:
A nearly clear iridescent shimmer

Swish:
Sheer apricot shimmer

Beaker and Swish were fun to wear because they were more subtle and natural looking.  They add a hint of shimmer and high sheen to your lips, but allow you to keep your look natural and appear easy breezy.  They're a nice addition to have if you're looking for that effortless, just stepped off the beach kind of look.  These two worked nicely when I applied them over a very natural lip shade.  They dressed up my look and gave it a sun kissed effect.

Have you tried any of butter LONDON's latest collections?  Are you interested in adding any of the LIPPYS to you summer makeup bag??

Review: Glam-It! GlamPact

You're getting off the subway, you're rushing upstairs, and suddenly you hear what can only be described as the sound of your favorite compact hitting the steps.  If you're lucky enough to make an attempt at snatching it up, you know the likely hood of it surviving the heard of cattle trampling past you, is pretty slim.

It was with this exact scenario in mind that glamour girl Jennifer Cheng took it upon herself to spare us from those inevitable mishaps.  Founder of the beauty industry's highly talked about Glam-It! company, Jennifer combined convenience, functionality, beauty and sophistication into the latest must have item; the GlamPact

I can't say enough wonderful things about this compact because I was consistently impressed with it.  It's been a while since I've come across a product that not only seems to have everything, but actually has everything.   This lightweight compact includes:

  • Light Up Vanity Mirror
  • USB cable port for charging
  • Anti-Aging and Moisturizing Superfection Pressed CC Powder, SPF 30 PA+++ in light and medium shades with a double sided cosmetic sponge.
  • Anti-Aging Cheek Colors Trio: Cheeky for blush, Shady for bronzing, and Hi-Liter for highlighting.
  • 3 Anti- Aging Eye Colors: Noir, Caramel-eyes, and Naked
  • Moisturizing and Plumping Lip Colors: Eat Me, Kiss Me Stupid and Gloss Over
  • Tool Drawer includes: Lip brush, cheek fan brush, eyebrow brush, and  dual-sided eyeshadow/ eyeliner brush

The lovely Jennifer Cheng and myself

There are so many incredible elements about this compact, where do I start??  It contains everything you could need from CC powder, to lip glosses, the necessary applicators and even a light up mirror- which you can easily charge up with its USB cord!  I loved the shadows and glosses in particular.  They had beautiful blending qualities, were highly pigmented and had amazing colour payoff.  Each item also contains additional skincare benefits.  For example, they use ingredients like matrixyl and hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen and smooth wrinkles, as well as moisturizers like argan oil and mango butter which are rich with antioxidants.   The glosses had smooth, even coverage, and contained Instaplump and MAXI-LIP for lip plumping effects.
Another aspect that I absolutely loved was that you can purchase refills for it off the company's website.  Each item pops out and can be replaced with either a refill or another color from the company's website. It retails for $100.00 and is an investment worth every penny.  Its available in pink for us girly girls and black for those who want ultra chic.  I'd highly recommend this to any girl who's tired of clumsily fumbling around her purse and is ready for her first glam-over!

Review: LORAC TANtalizer Glow to Go Limited Edition

Retail: $36.00

LORAC has delivered once again with their latest TANtalizer Glow to Go Limited Edition gift set for this summer.  The kit includes everything you need to create the perfect sun kissed look for a total steal of just $36.00 ($120..00 value) AND does it without compromising quality or skimping out on product size.

 In the kit:

Without a doubt the shadows are my favorite.  They're my must have, not just for summer, but all year round.  They're highly pigmented, the colour payoff is stunning and they blend beautifully.  Using them I felt like I was using expert shadows because they achieved such precision, I actually had an airbrushed, flawless effect.  They didn't leave any dusting under the eyes after application and did NOT crease! I LOVE these and can't say it enough.  The kit includes three shades: Tahitian Sand, a pale, creamy, yellow, Barbados Bronze: a lovely brown/copper blend and Costa Rican Coffee, a rich, dark chocolate.  All three complimented each other very well and kind of reminded me of a summer sunset..

LORAC TANtalizer 1.52 FL oz

I had a lot of success with this body bronzing luminizer.  It had a light, coconut like scent, and went on very smoothly.  Its formula is very light and blended nicely without leaving any streaks.  I applied a small amount over my face and loved that it was very subtle.  The color appears a warm, medium tone when initially squeezed onto your finer, but once applied it blended beautifully.  I have light skin and wondered if it would be too dark, but it wasn't.  It created a natural looking glow, comparable to a soft white/yellow gold.  It dried quickly and served as an excellent primer which I followed with the kit's baked bronzer.

LORAC TANtalize Me Baked Bronzer .35 oz

I love marbles bronzers.  My skin is light with pink undertones and sometimes I feel like bronzing powders end up making me look like I have a rash. But not this one.  Its mixture of light to dark brown shades, swirled with warm gold allowed me to create a more even, natural effect and ultimately made application easier.  It left a light shimmer and was very buildable.  Its a perfect finish to give your skin that hint sun kiss atop the luminizer's dewy glow.

LORAC TANtalizer Lips with Benefits .19 oz

Lastly, I topped off my look with the kit's TANtalizer Lips with Benefits gloss.  This was a fun, flirty gloss because of its colours: a mixture of shimmery gold and deep mauve.  It made my lips look full and sexy with its ultra glossy finish.  It had pretty strong staying power and wasn't sticky.  One aspect of it I fell partial to was its unique scent, which I later learned was crem brulee.  It has antioxidants of Acai Berry, Pomegranate Extract and Vitamins C & E to help nourish and protect lips from drying in the summer months.  Its the kit's finishing detail to help create that effortless summer glow .

This kit is such an incredible buy, I definitely recommend snagging one if you can.  Its items are full size, quality products that work!  What more could a beauty maven ask for? :)

 Available at: Ulta.com and Sephora

Review: Forever Glowing by Jennifer Lopez

Granted most of my devoted beauties out there know I am always raving about the wonder that is Jennifer Lopez, and her latest fragrance Forever Glowing is just another reason why.  An incredible blend of notes like saffron, white pepper, white honey, neroli, jasmine, suede, toffee, vanilla and patchouli creates this sensual, erotic fragrance that is described as a light fragrant breeze on your skin and through your hair.

Retail: $39.00-$49.00

The packaging is quite unique and very fitting.  It is in a circular, opaque bottle and its liquid is a soft lavender.  The topper is a matching circular crystal-like piece, and (my favorite part), when you spritz it on, a light under its cap actually lights up the bottle!  The bottle glows bright purple and is such a fun extra.

I enjoyed wearing this scent because it is ultra feminine, but edgy.  It doesn't scream your typical sweet, fruity summer scent.  Instead, its blend of musk and florals create a sharp sophistication that exudes warmth and sensuality.  It settled on my skin with a soft, powder fresh aroma, but had a spicy kick to it.  It reminded me of summer nights and going out with friends, but yet is totally appropriate for daily wear.  It is by no means overpowering or strong, but rather light and airy (like advertised).  This fragrance is the ultimate detail that will pull your look together and add that captivating allure to your overall look for summer.

Available at Kohl's

Review: beingTrue Finishing Touch Perfecting Pen

Retail: $35.00

I met a truly fabulous representative for the brand beingTRUE  at a past BeautyPress event, and he introduced me to one of their best sellers: The Finishing Touch Perfecting Pen.  He kindly gave me a pen to take home and sample, and I feel totally in the know about why it is so popular.

This sleek, silver pen with soft bristled tip, is quick and easy to use.  You simply click the button on the bottom and liquid is dispensed into the applicator brush.  It contains absolutely amazing elements like instalift goji to provide lifting and skin firming benefits, kalparine, an extract from the brown algae Alaria Esculenta to nourish and protect skin, and omega-3 and omega-6 oils to reinforce skins hydro-lipidic barrier. It also has anti oxidnants like pomegranate and malakite to fight signs of aging while green and white teas help soothe your skin.

While I've mentioned in the past that I don't typically use concealer, but I liked experimenting with this pen.  I applied it ever so lightly under my eyes, down the center of my nose, and to a few different spots around my face.  I was amazed to see it had created a healthy, radiant effect.  It added a natural looking glow to my look, rather then simply cover the flaws. Its coverage was superb and blended beautifully.  It also served as a fantastic primer, to which I later applied a light layer of bronzer and the effect was really pretty.  This is a great product to have on hand for when you need a quick touch up, and want to perk up your look.  It didn't smudge off and kept whatever makeup I applied over it in pretty good shape throughout the day.

The best part about this brand is that the products are not only effective, but actually provide you with skin benefits.  The targeted skin care line addresses specific and changing skin care needs, while the color cosmetics work in conjunction with the skin care by providing additional treatment benefits.  beingTrue strives to use all natural ingredients and is also cruelty free.  Products range in price from $5.00- $98.00 and are available exclusively through high-end spas and salons like The Spa at Chateau Elan in Atlanta and select Ritz Carlton locations to name a few.  I would definitely reccomend trying them if you get the opportunity.

Review: PUR attitude Skincare

I began using PUR attitude  Purifying Rice Face Wash, HydroDrench Moisturizing Gel Cream and Multi-Effects Eye Cream for several weeks and loved every second of it. I came across the skincare line at a past BeautyPress Spotlight Day event here in NYC, and am really glad I did.  I really enjoyed this line so I'll just right in and start!

Retail: $18.00

The Rice Purifying Face Wash was very pleasant to use.  It is a combination of soap-free cleanser and self-adjusting beads that gently exfoliate and remove daily build up, dirt and impurities.  It is enhanced with the power of natural Hyraluronix technology which delivers up to one thousand times its weight in water, locking moisture deep into the skin.  It also contains all time superior soothing and moisturizing elements like aloe leaf extract, jojoba esters, lemongrass oil and rice protein.

My skin is typically dry, but I found this to be very soothing and gentle enough to use daily.  The beads were small enough to get the job done without causing any irritation or redness.  I liked how successful it was at removing my all my make up, and left my skin feeling cleansed and comforted.

Retail: $68.00

Where do I even start with how much I love this moisturizer??  I say time and time again how my skin is dry, and has trouble absorbing moisturizers.  I've worked with several that I (thought) gave me good results at the time, but now I am not as sure.  This is probably my favorite to date and I don't think many will compare.  It states that it can serve as a primer for make up, and I would agree.  The creamy-gel like texture absorbed in record time, allowing me to apply my make up right after, and left my skin looking moist and soothed.  It claims to increase skin's hydration up to 90%, and while I can't confirm the results were 90%, the improvement was indeed significant.  I couldn't resist touching my cheek from time to time as I was so amazed by the difference.
It too contains the Hyaluronix technology, and is combined with natural extracts like white tera, apricopt fruit, melon, pomeranate, rose, vanilla, raspberry, sweet almond and sandalwood.  This moisturizer is a powerhouse in a glass bottle and absolutely won't disappoint.  A must have for all suffering from dry skin.

Retail: $58.00

As far as eye creams go, I feel like I have trouble seeing results as I am still in my twenties.  I don't usually detect much (if any) difference but I've tried to get into the habit of using them anyway.  What I can confirm about this eye cream was that it was very lightweight, and it absorbed quickly.  I dabbed it on it below my eyes, in the corners, over the lids and under the brow bone.  One application requires a minimal amount and goes a long way.  Using the Hyaluronix technology it works to firm tired, puffy looking eyes, erase dark circles up to 35%, reduce fine lines and wrinkles up to 63%, and is once again serves as a good primer for make up.  That is a great element, making it a worthwhile product for ladies not yet showing signs of aging, but are looking for ways to prevent them.  Using this as a primer can serve as added insurance against signs of aging and will keep your make up in place at the same time.

Overall verdict: I love this line and hope to work with more of their products.  I've had much success with it and hope to maintain its results.

Have you worked with PUR attitude?  What skincare line are you currently using?

Review: Christina Aguilera Red Sin Eau De Parfum

Retail: $37.00-$47.00

I've certainly been indulging in the fragrance department lately, and on a recent shopping trip to Kohl's, my eyes grew wide at their selection.  My how it has grown!  I used to work there several years ago and while I recall them having several nice scents, they've certainly been hard at work adding to their collection.

Christina Aguilera's Red Sin Eau De Parfum caught my eye.  Not only am I a fan of the power house little songstress, but its bottle had a sultry, feminine shape, with lacy red detailing and a sexy black bow it the top.  I was eager to get a whiff and to put it simply: I'm obsessed with this fragrance.

I learned that it is a Floral Oriental composed of top notes like red apple and cinnamon, with red cyclamen at its heart, and base notes of red ginger, sandalwood, and musk... (mm..tell me that doesn't sound delectable?).  With her favorite colour red in mind, Christina intended the fragrance to exude confidence, sexiness and embody empowerment.

I love this scent from start to finish.  From the instant I spray it on, to the time after it settles on my skin, it is divine.  What I think I am most impressed by is its originality.   It begins with a sharp, fruity blast, that quickly steps aside, letting you enjoy its musky, floral quality.  I can't quite put my finger on it, but I almost feel like its two scents in one, each nicely complimenting the other.  Because of its warm, woodsy notes, some may consider it more appropriate for fall or winter, but personally I plan to begin wearing it now because it just smells so darn good!!  It wears lightly but is strong enough to get you noticed.. The ultimate scent to let you leave behind a little mystery as you saunter on by...

Have you visited your local Kohl's lately?  Have you tried any of the other Christina Aguilera fragrances?

Review: Dossage No.8 For Her

One of my favorite moments in life is when you discover that addictive new fragrance that smells so amazing you can't stop until you've added it to your collection.  Of course you have your signature scents, and the ones you reserve for special occasions, but who can forget that absolute favorite you even wear to bed because you simply can't get enough of it?

No.8 White Label for Her 50 ml 1.7fl oz $75

I was introduced to Dossage  No.8 For Her Eau De Parfum at a past BeautyPress event in NYC, and couldn't help but like it.  It was a crisp, sophisticated blend of fresh citrus, robust black current, passionate red fruits, sweet lily of the valley, and a sultry white musk.  The brand is quite special, using inspiration from various travel destinations to create each scent.  Dossage No. 8 For Her tributes its mysterious, artful allure to destinations such as Santa Barbara, Barcelona and Sao Paulo.
I loved wearing this fragrance because it was light and subtle, but wore strong enough to last the whole day.  It's totally wearable for everyday and any occasion, also making it a nice scent for summer.  It has a fresh, clean aroma with a little mystery, that won't overpower your or those around you.

A unique element of the brand is that each "For Her" scent is designed to compliment each "For Him" scent when worn together.  That said, any set could serve as the perfect gift for your boyfriend or hubby, whether it's Valentine's Day, his birthday or a holiday.

No.16 Pink Label for Woman 50 ml 1.7fl oz $75

Personally though, when sampling the collection, my favorite was definitely No.16.  I had a complete OMG moment.  THIS would be the one to feed my addiction and be my go-to for not only every occasion, but would probably be what I wore to bed.  It smelled so delicious and breathtaking, I couldn't put down the paper I spritzed it on.  It is a blend of citrus, mango, peony, rose, vanilla and ambery woods, with inspiration derived from locations like St. Barts, Miami and Las Vegas.  If that doesn't spell out a good time, I don't know what does!   If you're a fun loving girl who likes to wear trendy, flirty scents, No.16 has your name written all over it.

Available at:
Fred Segal, the Fairmount Hotels, Mondrian, Jessie Boutique in SouthBeach,(Miami Beach) Adventura, Boca Raton, Cowgirl Princess in LA Canada California,Stylehaus, Sydney Michelle in Balboa Island,California and  Dossage.com

Do you wear a favorite fragrance to bed?  If so what is it?  Are you intrigued by the Dossage collection?

Review: Nuxe Body Paris Fondant Shower Gel

Welp its official.  My bottle of Nuxe Body's Fondant Shower Gel has started making those dying, wheezy sounds as I struggle to squeeze out its last remaining droplets :(

Retail: $15.00

I ordered this wash on a whim after reading some pretty good reviews, and I can't say I was sorry.  In fact, I plain fell in love with it.
After a little research I learned Nuxe Body is a French brand, once created by a research pharmacist fascinated by the power of plants.  Now run by his daughter, Aliza Jabes, she's adopted the philosophy Beauty by Nature and is the driving force behind bringing these luxurious Nuxe products to life.

This wash contains a soap-free formulation and coconut plant-origin cleansing base that works to soothe skin.  It had a delicious coconut scent that filled my bathroom and instantly relaxed me.  Also made with almond and orange flower petals, it kept my skin from drying out, and was gentle enough to use daily.
Because of its luxe quality, the smallest amount lathered right up and spread like silk over my skin.  I'd definitely suggest this as a nice supplement in place of that spa treatment we all need once in a while, and never have the time or money to get.  Reasonably priced at $15.00, use it to pamper yourself for a few minutes everyday :)

Review: Bio Logical Hand Cream

As a girl in her twenties I'm no stranger to the importance of skincare.  Women constantly fuss over the "wrinkles" or "fine lines" on their face or neck, but tend to neglect two precious miracles.. their hands.  To be blunt, all that time spent catering to your face can easily be undone by a pair of dry, roughed up looking set of mits.

The fast few months I have been using Apricot to the Rescue Hand Cream by Bio Logical and I LOVE it.

First off, this cream smells absolutely delicious.  The apricot scent is sweet and crisp, but not overpowering.  It contains ultra hydrating elements like argan oil, shea butter, and aloe.  The light formula glides on silky smooth and absorbs pretty well.  I carry this with me everywhere.  Despite the fact that it adds a bit of weight to my purse, I believe it to be totally worth it.  Its packaging is a 1.69 fl oz glass pump bottle with plastic cap.  Made from recycled items, they're totally eco- friendly, just a little less travel friendly.  But when my hands felt even slightly dry or rough, after application they felt soothed almost immediately, giving them fast relief.  Another element I liked was its luxe quality.  It provides lasting effects, therefore requiring less applications and increasing its longevity.  I have been using it for several months and still have half the bottle left.  My hands are smooth, hydrated and no matter how I age, I vow to always keep a bottle of Bio-Logical near by!

Introducing Juliet Stewart's Juliet Eau De Parfum

Retail: $185.00
1.07 oz

After sampling Juliet Stewart new fragrance Juliet Eau De Parfum at a recent BeautyPress event, I found myself drawn to what I could only describe as an incredibly unique blend of notes.
Let me be honest and say I am partial to my fruity florals, and my powder fresh scents.  But Juliet was a special blend of notes that had me intrigued.
Juliet Eau De Parfume uses classic notes of lemon from Amalfi, basil, bergamot and Sicilian orange, lavendar and sage, mingling with naunces of fresh Mediterranean herbs that become ultra- feminine with jasmine, lily of the valley, and vanilla from Madagascar, on a warm background of amber and precious woods from the Far East. It creates a fabulous union a unique musky, floral fragrance that is truly lovely.
When first tested, its aroma was a sharp musky blast.  But once it settled, it softened in to a delicate mix of musk and light floral.
I found it smelled better on my skin then in the bottle.  I could detect the jasmine and vanilla notes- two of my favorites- and loved how it set.  It wasn't overpowering and made me feel very feminine.  Usually when I hear musk I tend to shy away, for fear of it smelling too masculine.  But Juliet embodies a woman's true beauty and makes you feel your worth.  Its notes combine to give the perfect balance of strength and femininity with lasting wearbility and brave originality.  It is definitely a scent that can be worn on the daily, no matter the ocassion or season.  I would say it is bold enough to get you noticed, but subtle enough to leave behind a little intrigue.
Stewart describes the scent with the words "Be Unforgettable... Own Your Beauty" and I consider it an accurate depiction.
What types of scents do you typically wear daily?  Would you consider Juliet Eau De Parfum?
