Summer Essential: SwimSpray

Retail: $15.00

If there's one downside to cooling off with a dip in the pool, it's got to be those chlorine side effects.  It's harsh on your hair, dries you out and let's face it, makes you reek of chemicals. SwimSpray  was designed to combat chlorine odor and stop it from irritating your skin and hair.

Invented by Andrew Chadeayne, a swimmer himself, it is a fragrance free liquid that's lightweight and feels like regular water.  It is 100% natural and uses vitamin C based technology.  The vitamin C (as Sodium Ascorbate and Ascorbic Acid) being the key ingredient because it neutralizes and breakdown the chlorine, which soaps and shampoos can't do.

Directions state:

1.) After swimming, rinse off in the shower.
2..) Next, spray Swimspray on your hair, and skin.
3.) Shower normally with shampoo or soap.
(It also states you can skip the soap and just rinse off again with water).  This is good flexibility.  If you're at someone else's house you may not have the option to fully shower off.  Instead, just spritz it on and hose it off.

Easy enough?

The 4 oz. bottle is advertised to last you 600 sprays, or 20-30 swims.  For me personally, that definitely sounds like enough to last me an entire summer and I'm looking forward to giving it a go!

Have you tried SwimSpray?  How was your experience?

BeautyBox5: June Box Reveal

Happy Saturday!! I hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend so far.  You may have already guessed it's about that time for me to dish about this month's BeautyBox5 goodies!  For those of you that don't know, BeautyBox5 is a monthly subscription that selects five beauty industry favorites and delivers them straight to your door.  There are various subscription options to chose from, but my lucky self receives a complimentary box each month in exchange for my thoughts :)

Each month has a special theme:

"Have glam, will travel!  No matter where you're off to this month, make a statement with your eyes, nails, and complexion that won't soon be forgotten.  We've packed our favorite brands from both near and far into this box, so you can get globetrotter gorgeous- no passport required!  Au revoir, beauty babe!"- BB5

 Let's take a look..

 Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
 Retail: $22.00 .4 oz.

An extra mascara never hurt anyone-- especially when it's from Urban Decay!!!!  I think this is the best product I've ever seen in one of my BB5 boxes.  Advertised as having a "luxe brush and creamy formula", I couldn't wait to get my grubby little paws on this new baby from UD!

Herbal Essences Body Wash
Retail: $2.49 11.1 oz.

How did BB5 know I was dying try this scent from Herbal Essence??!  Described as a "cult fave", I've heard awesome things about "Honey I Smell Good", and I gotta say it smells guh-OOD.  The honey scent is light and sweet, not overpowering.

  Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water
Retail: $7.99 7 oz.

This was a cool surprise.  I'm running out of Micellar water and Simple Skincare happens to be one of my preferred skincare brands.  Looks like I'll be making a trip to the drugstore for a refill :p

 LOL Rotational Eye Shadow
Retail: $3.00

This is the first time I've heard of LOL makeup and according to BB5, it's a new French and Australian line making its way to the U.S.  So far, I'm liking what I see!  These colors are right up my ally because I love a bronzed smoky eye, especially for the summer.  *Summer crush palette*

nails inc. Nail Polish
Retail: $9.50 .33 oz.

AHH!! I'm a huge fan of nails inc. and a very obvious fan of the color pink.  Needless to say this bottle of brompton place totally brightened my mood and I'm totally wearing this on Monday.

Overall  I thought this month's box was pretty awesome.  I saw a lot of my favorite brands and some products I was really excited to use.  Do you subscribe to BB5?  What did you think of this month's box?

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics: Cosplay S/S 2015 Collection

Earlier this month I got an up close look at Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics brand new Spring/Summer 2015 Collection: Cosplay.

The collection includes six new shades of matte lip tars with matching nail lacquers so you can rock the fashion forward "lip to tip" trend.

Retail: Lip Tars $18.00, Lacquers $10.00

Shades include (L-R):
John Doe- Pale ash toned toupe
Cosplay- Teal toned green
Belladonna- Ultra violet
Memento- Mid-tone pink/ plum neutral
Femme- True baby pink
Cha Cha- Pale tangerine

OCC founder David Klasfeld was in attendance to let us in on the collection's best seller: John Doe.  It's totally on fleek with this season's nudes/neutrals look and is great for day to day wear.

John Doe

What I like most about the collection is the sleek, matte finish.  Lip tars are awesome because they apply like a gloss but have a lipstick finish.  They're heavily pigmented so you can slick on a small amount, and walk off with a sexy pout that stays on for hours.

Below are some more OCC goodies to check out!

At the event, I was playing around and couldn't resist trying on Technopagan from an earlier Metallics collection.  It's described as a blackened purple shade with a blue pearl sheen and I have to say it made me feel pretty bad a$$!

Have you tried the new Cosplay collection?  What's your favorite shade?

Review: Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine & Hold Laminating Shine Hair Spray

Retail: $6.97

My hair is a beast during the humid summer months and I'm forced to ditch my precious flat iron and opt for a mass of curls.  That said, I need products that can tame them and hold them in place for extended periods of time.

Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine & Hold Laminating Shine Hair Spray  is unique.  It not only promises "extra strong hold" but also uses a technologically advanced formula and shine polymer to leave hair with a lustrous finish.

I spritzed it over my wet hair and before anything else, noticed the sweet powdery scent.  For me, this was a plus.  I hate the sprays that smell too much like chemicals, even if they work.

The dry time was pretty quick, considering my hair was wet.  I could tell it had set in about six or seven minutes and I slowly noticed a light sheen.  What I liked about it was that as my hair dried, the color didn't get overly dark.  Typically after I hair spray my wet hair, it always dries darker and creates that nasty wet look.  Fortunately, it was much less obvious with this spray and my end look appeared more natural.

I would say it is definitely humidity resistant.  I didn't experience any pesky fly aways at any point in the day and overall it handled my thick curls pretty well.  Overall, this is a great choice spray for summer.  If you have thick, hard to manage hair this will effortlessly keep hair in place and even adds a healthy shine.

The Crystal Shine and Hold collection is available online and includes three additional products.  You can check them out here

Wei East: TAO WEI Cool2Hot Sonic Beautifier

I'm all about gadgets that make a beauty routine easier and (of course) more efficient.  Enter Wei East Tao Wei Cool2Hot Sonic Beauty Tool Set with Ginger Serum.  The device launched on HSN back in February and combines the use of hot & cold temperatures to amp up the effects of your skincare products.  The set includes a bottle of Ginger Serum, but the tool can be used with the skincare product of your choice.

Retail: 149.95

Tao Wei Cool2Hot Sonic Beauty Tool:
  • Massaging beauty tool for applying the Ginger Serum
  • Operates in four modes: Hot, Cool, Sonic + Hot and Sonic + Cool
  • Hot (approx. 107ºF) soothes the skin and helps liquefy the Ginger Serum
  • Cool (approx. 41ºF) helps the skin feel refreshed
  • Sonic + Hot and Sonic + Cool modes help massage the skin with approx. 200 micro massages per second
  • Safe for use in the eye area
  • FDA cleared

Ginger Serum
  • Contains wild turmeric root extract, approx. 30% ginger extract and other key ingredients
  • Helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Temporarily firms and tightens the appearance of skin
  • Helps refresh the appearance of tired-looking eyes
  • Helps restore skin moisture
  • Refines and smoothes the skin's appearance
  • Helps skin look brighter and younger
  • Safe for use in the eye area

The idea behind it is that the change from hot to cold helps your skin to better absorb the product.  The heat opens your pores and melts the product, then the cold by closes them and locks the product in.  It is said to be a popular method used in the Asian beauty industry.

Using the device is lightweight and pretty easy to operate.  It comes with a USB to charge it up, and a full charge took close to three hours.  To start, first apply the skincare product of your choice.  Next, hold down the main button on the device and a solid red light will appear indicating the heat has turned on.  It took less then 20 seconds to fully heat up.  Since it's a "sonic" tool, it has the fun option of adding in sonic vibrations for a mini massage by pressing the button again- which I love :P

Once you're done with the heat, just press the button again and within seconds your skin feels a cold,  refreshing blast.  It's a soothing process and really relaxing. I like it because it's small and lightweight.  Sometimes I'll use it on my neck if it gets stiff while I'm working, and I almost always use it to soothe my tired, puffy eyes before bed.  My skin has taken to it (and the serum) pretty well.  My skin is dry and usually has trouble absorbing moisturizers on its own, and this gives it the extra help that it needs.  The small dry patches around my eyes seem to have disappeared.  Overall, I enjoyed the experience and am happy I have it on hand for the hot months coming up!
