RIOULT Dance NY Holds Winter Gala 2017

Last week I had the honor of attending RIOULT Dance NY's  2017 Winter Gala at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.  It was a celebratory evening held to honor Ellen Harris (in memoriam) and The Coughlin/Davis Family for their steadfast support of the company.

Everything from the ambiance, to the food and entertainment were perfection.  Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while bidding on luxury items, private gourmet dinners, theatre tickets and professionally framed photos of the RIOULT dancers during a silent auction.

The auction was followed by an incredible dinner menu that included dishes like Artisanal Vegetable Tart, Truffled Day Boat Cod, and Family Style Sweets!

Without a doubt, my favorite part of the evening was watching the RIOULT dancers perform, and learning about the plans to build a brand new dance center.

Artistic Director and choreographer, Pascal Rioult, and his wife, Associate Artistic Director Joyce Herring, shared exciting updates on the project; “Building RIOULT Dance Center, studios and a world-class school, has been a dream of mine since the inception of the Company.  Beyond my body of work, this will be my legacy, an intuition where we will train professional dancers and artists. The dream is now becoming reality with the help all of you, my dancers, my staff, my Board and our extended family of fans and friends. We are building an open, welcoming, beautiful place for the arts to flourish. We need it more than ever.”

The dancers gave breathtaking and dynamic performances throughout the night, including an excerpt from Pascal's new work set to the music of Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water.

RIOULT has a definitively unique presence that resonates long after they leave the stage.  I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself during their NY season.

beautypress Hosts Spotlight Day Event

Last week Beauty Press hosted another fabulous Spotlight Day event.  The spotlight shown on the latest products from the beauty industry's favorites including Absolute New York, Double Dare, Karité Shea Butter, Indigena Skincare, and Cailyn.

Retail: $9.99

Set to be released this April, Absolute New York  debuted its collection of Cotton Candy liquid eye liners in six pastel, milky hues.  The liners, whose formula is advertised as super pigmented with no dragging, are an easy way to add a pop of color to your spring look.

Double Dare Spa was in attendance showcasing a series of products for both hair and skin care.  The line is totally affordable, ranging in price from a mere $6.00 for the OMG! 2in1 Kit Detox Bubbling Microfiber Mask  to just $12.00 for the OMG! Standing Mask Brush.  The line is designed to make caring for your hair and skin as easy and convenient as possible, with the same intense effectiveness as the spa.  Plus the packaging is mad cute!

Retail: $58.00

You may already be familiar with the popular Cailyn Cosmetics, and now they've launched the V II Total Care Serum.  Dubbed the "1 Day Game Changer", 3-5 drops of serum over the face and neck is said to moisturize, brighten, reduce pores and diminish wrinkles.  Armed with 11% pure vitamin C, its great for many skin styles, including sensitive skin.

Retail: $36.00

Founded by three sisters from Ghana, Karité Shea Butter is a unique brand that offers the far-reaching benefits of raw, unrefined shea butter sourced from Ghana.  Crème Mains, its newest addition moisturizer is an anti-aging hand cream formulated specifically for the unique needs of the hands.  I like this shea butter because the texture has a whipped feel to it, very light and airy and absorbs quickly.  It'll be great for repairing any damage done by these cold winter months.

One of my favorites products was the Blueberry Bliss Sugar Scrub from Indigena because it smells delicious!  It's a gentle scrub that can be used anywhere on the body, including lips.  As indicated by its namesake, the brand uses indigenous ingredients from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada; one of the world's last most remote and clean eco systems.

Have you tried any of the above brands?  What did you think?

RIOULT Dance NY Prepares for European Tour

I was ecstatic to watch the dancers of RIOULT Dance NY up close at their open studio rehearsal a couple of weeks ago.

RIOULT Dance NY is a New York City based modern dance company founded in 1994 and showcases the innovative works of choreographer Pascal Rioult.  The company tours both nationally and internationally, and guests were invited to preview works that will be seen during their 19 city European tour.

RIOULT performed a stunning piece entitled Dream Suite (photos below).  A former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, Rioult incorporated Graham- like sensuality and psychological aspects into the piece.  The dancers complimented one another beautifully and at times even breathed as one, reinforcing the deep emotion and athleticism behind each movement.

This week I have the immense honor of attending the company's Winter Gala and I can't wait to see which remarkable pieces they will perform throughout the evening.  Check back for the recap!

Novex Hair Care Hosts Winter Escape Party

Last week, Brazil's widely popular Novex Hair Care  invited guests to gather at the Brazil Brazil Restauranon Restaurant Row and wave buh-bye to those winter blues!

Now that the weather is getting warmer, guests sat down to tasty Brazilian dishes and signature cocktails on the patio, while also getting an up close look at all the latest Novex products.

Novex is the #1 selling keratin product line in Brazil (and one of my personal favorites).  Their products always add so much moisture to my hair and helps make it more manageable.  If you're all too familiar with unruly frizz and dryness, I definitely recommend checking them out.

Retail: $16.99

The brand debuted their newest product; the Novex Brazilian Keratin thermal Protector Styling Leave in Spray, a thermal protectant.  Like all Novex products before it, it contains keratin and is designed to repair, protect and add shine.  Just spritz over hair before applying heat and then style as usual.

If you have thick, curly hair like I do, you'll be happy to know this protectant takes things a step further.  It's particularly nice because it also helps reduce frizz, detangle hair, prevent split ends, add shine and softness, repair damage, and acts as a color protectant.

The new styling spray is a part of the above Brazilian Keratin line, whose related products are geared towards smoothing and deep repair.  There are several other lines for varying hair types, and you can browse the rest of them here.

Beauty Box 5 February Reveal

Hi, dolls!  I'm really excited about this month's BB5 reveal-- it's only February and they're already killin' it!

For anyone not familiar with BeautyBox5it is a monthly beauty box subscription that selects five of the industry's must haves and delivers them straight to your door!  There are various subscription options to chose from, but my lucky self receives a complimentary box each month in exchange for sharing the goodies with all of you lovelies :)

This month's theme was "Put Your Best Kiss Forward" and it's my favorite one yet.  BB5 put together their very own "Kiss Kit", guaranteed to make your lips look and feel irresistible this season.

Style Essentials Lip Glow
Retail: $4.00

Described as a lightly tinted balm that glides on sheer and is also moisturizing.  PS. It has a sweet candy scent that smells amazing.

Jean Pierre Cosmetics Pink Moisturizing Lip Mask
Retail: $5.00 (set of 5)

Lip masks are all the rage on instagram these days and I have been DYING to try one!    They use collagen, vitamins, and minerals to help restore moisture to dry lips.  Just lay this over your lips for 15 minutes to later reveal softer, smoother lips.

Tint Beauty
The Unicorn Lippie and Liner Collection

The collection makes its debut in this month's BB5 box, and the duo make for a killer pout.  The liner is smooth and creamy, and the lippie is a heavily pigmented matte liquid. The shade is Make Believe and I'm already obsessed with it.  Very natural looking and it's really, really long wearing.

So Susan Colour Hybrid
Retail: $17.50

Described as a rich cream- mousse pigment that adds fullness to your lips, it can also be used to add a bit of color to your cheeks.

This has been my absolute favorite box since I started receiving them a couple of years ago.  "The Kiss Kit" was such a cute idea, and it just so happens lip (/eye) products are my weak spot.  Plus, they graciously sent four of the five products in full size- which was AWESOME.  BB5 is kicking it up a notch and I can't wait to see what they do next!
