Review: Lemon Rinse Gentle Clarifying Treatment

Retail: $10.00

Lemon Rinse Gentle Clarifying Treatment from Beautiful Nutrition is described as a ph Balancing Restorative Rinse that will rid your scalp of build up and whip dull hair back into shape.  The brand boasts use of the highest quality natural ingredients, and each product is free of parabens, DEA/MEA/TEA, or artificial colors, flavors or fragrances.

My hair is curly and therefore always on the dry side.  I don't use clarifying treatments as often as I should, and I like this one because it's quick.  You simply apply an amount after you've shampooed and conditioned, then rinse it out after a minute or so.

The lemon scent is evident, but not overwhelming.  The formula is clear with zero lather, so for me, that was the only challenge.  The first couple of times I squirted it in my hand, and then tried to apply to my scalp.  But ultimately, I found it was easier to just squirt it directly onto my head.  That way, I felt sure I wasn't missing spots.

The directions say you only need to leave it in for a few seconds, but I usually left it on for at least two minutes or so.  My hair is really thick so I wanted to make sure it had time to penetrate.  I expected there to be some sort of tingling sensation, but there wasn't any.  Instead, my scalp felt soothed and refreshed after I rinsed it out.

Almost right away I felt like my hair looked shinier, and I could see more of my blond highlights.  It also seemed to diminish some of my frizz.  It was after a few more uses that I noticed the build up really start to disappear.  Overall, I'd say it did a good job.  For only $10.00 it's definitely worth a shot.

RIOULT Dance NY Holds Winter Gala 2017

Last week I had the honor of attending RIOULT Dance NY's  2017 Winter Gala at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.  It was a celebratory evening held to honor Ellen Harris (in memoriam) and The Coughlin/Davis Family for their steadfast support of the company.

Everything from the ambiance, to the food and entertainment were perfection.  Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while bidding on luxury items, private gourmet dinners, theatre tickets and professionally framed photos of the RIOULT dancers during a silent auction.

The auction was followed by an incredible dinner menu that included dishes like Artisanal Vegetable Tart, Truffled Day Boat Cod, and Family Style Sweets!

Without a doubt, my favorite part of the evening was watching the RIOULT dancers perform, and learning about the plans to build a brand new dance center.

Artistic Director and choreographer, Pascal Rioult, and his wife, Associate Artistic Director Joyce Herring, shared exciting updates on the project; “Building RIOULT Dance Center, studios and a world-class school, has been a dream of mine since the inception of the Company.  Beyond my body of work, this will be my legacy, an intuition where we will train professional dancers and artists. The dream is now becoming reality with the help all of you, my dancers, my staff, my Board and our extended family of fans and friends. We are building an open, welcoming, beautiful place for the arts to flourish. We need it more than ever.”

The dancers gave breathtaking and dynamic performances throughout the night, including an excerpt from Pascal's new work set to the music of Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water.

RIOULT has a definitively unique presence that resonates long after they leave the stage.  I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself during their NY season.

beautypress Hosts Spotlight Day Event

Last week Beauty Press hosted another fabulous Spotlight Day event.  The spotlight shown on the latest products from the beauty industry's favorites including Absolute New York, Double Dare, Karité Shea Butter, Indigena Skincare, and Cailyn.

Set to be released this April, Absolute New York  debuted its collection of Cotton Candy liquid eye liners in six pastel, milky hues.  The liners, whose formula is advertised as super pigmented with no dragging, are an easy way to add a pop of color to your spring look.

Double Dare Spa was in attendance showcasing a series of products for both hair and skin care.  The line is totally affordable, ranging in price from a mere $6.00 for the OMG! 2in1 Kit Detox Bubbling Microfiber Mask  to just $12.00 for the OMG! Standing Mask Brush.  The line is designed to make caring for your hair and skin as easy and convenient as possible, with the same intense effectiveness as the spa.  Plus the packaging is mad cute!

You may already be familiar with the popular Cailyn Cosmetics, and now they've launched the V II Total Care Serum.  Dubbed the "1 Day Game Changer", 3-5 drops of serum over the face and neck is said to moisturize, brighten, reduce pores and diminish wrinkles.  Armed with 11% pure vitamin C, its great for many skin styles, including sensitive skin.

Retail: $36.00

Founded by three sisters from Ghana, Karité Shea Butter is a unique brand that offers the far-reaching benefits of raw, unrefined shea butter sourced from Ghana.  Crème Mains, its newest addition moisturizer is an anti-aging hand cream formulated specifically for the unique needs of the hands.  I like this shea butter because the texture has a whipped feel to it, very light and airy and absorbs quickly.  It'll be great for repairing any damage done by these cold winter months.

One of my favorites products was the Blueberry Bliss Sugar Scrub from Indigena because it smells delicious!  It's a gentle scrub that can be used anywhere on the body, including lips.  As indicated by its namesake, the brand uses indigenous ingredients from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada; one of the world's last most remote and clean eco systems.

Have you tried any of the above brands?  What did you think?
